the Spiral peace challenge

If I could I would

by Valerie Owen

Age: over 22

If I could stop the world

 for just one day.

I would make a change

 upon the human race.

I would fix our language

 from the very start.

Never allowing a word

 to keep people appart.

I would blind all hate

 that hides inside the dark.

And plant the seeds of love

 deep in every heart.

I would burn each bridge

 to evry lonely road.

Replacing them with lines

 of hands to always hold.

I would give new eyes

 so that all could see.

We need to come together

to build a world of peace.

I would read a prayer

  understood by all mankind.

Teaching to heal the world

before we run out of TIME...........
I believe in humanity

The Spiral Poetry for Peace Competition 2007 is now closed. Over 350 entries were received, and the winning poem will be used as the theme page for a new interactive online peace campaign designed by Bluhalo, one of UK's leading digital design and build agencies. The winning poem will be annouced on the 21st of September. In the meantime, check out these poems which we thought were worth mentioning. We will be uploading poems daily to this section, so come back often to read the poems and celebrate Peace through Poetry.
