the Spiral peace challenge

A life worth living

By Lyn Graney

Over 22

I have a dream that recurs every night;

Of a life worth living, a future that’s bright,

A world of peace,

where loving and giving;

Lets children play without guns and killing;

I have a dream so vivid and real,

Of a world without fear to speak and feel;

A world to smile at a passing stranger,

Without fear of attack, retaliation or danger.

I have a dream of a clear blue sky,

Without missiles or bombs and the question, Why?

A world where poverty has no place,

Consigned to the history of the human race.

I have a dream where Hope can live,

A world where man has learnt to give.

I have a dream of a life worth living.

The Spiral Poetry for Peace Competition 2007 is now closed. Over 350 entries were received, and the winning poem will be used as the theme page for a new interactive online peace campaign designed by Bluhalo, one of UK's leading digital design and build agencies. The winning poem will be annouced on the 21st of September. In the meantime, check out these poems which we thought were worth mentioning. We will be uploading poems daily to this section, so come back often to read the poems and celebrate Peace through Poetry.
