the Spiral peace challenge

An Angel's Hold

by Hayley Standen

Age: 17 -21

One day you'll open your eyes,

To a beauty that once wasn't known,

To a silence that once wasn't heard,

To a love that once wasn't shown,

One day you'll dream a dream,

Of a tear that never falls, Of a moment that never ends,

Of a world that never stalls,

One day you'll feel the touch,

Of an angels peaceful kiss,

Of a doves gentle wings,

Of the earth's perfect bliss,

One day you'll think no more,

Of the hearts you have broken,

Of the people you have burnt,

Of the words you have spoken,

One day you'll find your peace,

To live for from the start,

To give to all you know,

And to carry safely in your heart.

The Spiral Poetry for Peace Competition 2007 is now closed. Over 350 entries were received, and the winning poem will be used as the theme page for a new interactive online peace campaign designed by Bluhalo, one of UK's leading digital design and build agencies. The winning poem will be annouced on the 21st of September. In the meantime, check out these poems which we thought were worth mentioning. We will be uploading poems daily to this section, so come back often to read the poems and celebrate Peace through Poetry.
